# RTS Entity Studio — quick start

1. Install the dependencies listed in COMMERCIAL_SPECIFICATION.md and configure a Universal Render Pipeline asset in Graphics and Quality settings. Set its Universal Renderer to Forward+ for Entities Graphics; the included sample renderer uses this setting.
2. Import the product and open Tools > RTS Entity Studio.
3. In Create Unit, choose Create reusable sample unit — no character pack required. Select an Assets folder.
4. Review the definition and choose Review and generate / update authoring. Confirm the described changes to owned prefabs.
5. In Test Units, select the unit and create an editable test scene. Columns and spacing are optional test placement.
6. Open the saved test scene and enter Play Mode. Wait for SubScene loading; inspect the actual member, GPU registration and failure counts.
7. Exercise Idle, Walk, Attack, Death and Reset presentation. These buttons change animation signals; they do not implement gameplay.
8. Exit Play Mode before editing assets. Regenerate authoring after changing quantities or role configurations; existing test scenes are preserved.

The packaged 25-member sample uses original procedural panel geometry with a rigid attachment. It verifies the pipeline without requiring third-party character art. See USER_GUIDE.md for custom assets, component attachments, limitations and troubleshooting.
